Ed Kennedy, Senior Pastor
Pastor Kennedy and his wife Angela have been at Spicewood Baptist Church since February of 2015. Before coming to Texas Pastor Kennedy served 10 years with the American Missionary Fellowship of Villanova, PA as the executive director of Forward Bible Camp and Area Missionary in the "Mother Lode" region outside of Sacramento, California. In 1999 the Mother Lode Evangelical Free Church of Coloma, California called him to serve as the senior Pastor, where he remained until 2012. While in California Pastor Kennedy served as a Chaplin and was on the Board of Directors for the Sierra Law Enforcement Chaplaincy, El Dorado County. He served on the Board of Directors of the Christian based outdoor adventure company "Rock-n-Water". Pastor Ed also served on the planning team of "Points of Impact" to the Navajo Nation in Shanto, Arizona, which is a short term missions opportunity, primarily for High School Students. He maintained an active role in his community serving on various school committees, coaching Little League, High School Boy’s Soccer and was a Golden Sierra High School Wrestling Coach for 20 years. He has had the privilege of preaching, teaching, providing leadership training both here in the United States and abroad. He has a love for teaching the word of God in a practical and insightful way and a passion to see the scriptures transforming power grow and develop SBC into a thriving and impactful Church body. His education includes : Western Baptist College, Salem, OR; Denver Baptist College, Denver, CO; Faith Theological Seminary, Ankeny, Iowa.
Ruth Ann Steele, Administrative Assistant
Ruth Ann Steele has served as the pastor’s administrative assistant for three years. She has used her organizational skills on the personnel and fellowship committees at Spicewood Baptist Church, in addition to working with the women’s ministry.
She grew up in a loving Christian home in the North Dallas area, attended Mary Hardin Baylor University, and has served in various administrative positions in the corporate world for over forty years.
She and her husband Jim Steele have been married for forty-four years and moved to Spicewood in 1994. Their two sons, daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren live close by, bringing much joy to their lives.
Zephaniah 3:17 is a favorite verse of hers, and if you know Ruth Ann at all, you know that her strong trust in the LORD is a defining part of who she is.
She is passionate about women's bible studies and the impact they can have on a woman’s life, and it makes Ruth Ann happy to see women grow in their walk with the Lord through bible study.
